Operation Haystack: Brief

Kyris Separatist Operatives have been known Imperial Heretics in the Qantm Sector for near a century. Their operations over that period of time have been executed with precision, tact, ruthlessness and subtly approaching the mastery of the best in the Inquisition. Our sources have reason to believe their efforts have evolved, integrating foreign technology and tactics. This threat makes the KSO a prime suspect for present Ordo Hereticus' operations.      

Intelligence shows KSO movements were detected in the Atlas Metropolis on Arose in the Kariden System. Inquisition assets moved to extract further information, but efforts were defused when a class Xeno-Majorius: Tyranid threat arrived in the system. A full scale Tyranid invasion on Arose rendered planetary systems ineffective against the atmospheric interference forcing a blind investigation in the neutral ground of a warzone.

Inquisitor Ovichnnikov; you are required to use your assets to conduct a full investigation in Arose's Atlas Metropolis. The threat of the Tyranid invasion has forced the enemy to act in plane sight. Discover the KSO cell and extract all intelligence before the warzone inevitably covers their tracks and we loose our first lead in almost a decade.

Operation Haystack: AIS Mission Log_Update

Deployment with KRG special Forces Delta Company was successful. HALO drop compromised by a Xeno: Tyranid Gargoyle Swarm. Hostiles were eliminated. We have been traveling via commandeered civilian vehicles. In addition we are also being hunted by a Xeno: Tyranid Carnifex.

We began our investigation at the Arbite Core Headquaters. Detective Varian Cray was found and questioned. He had returned to the precinct with the intention to preserve his investigation notes.

Detective Cray's investigation analysed the assassination of an adeptus administratum officer of Atlas' interplanetary customs branch. Detective Cray was assassinated during questioning, sniper shot fitting the M.O of the assassin responsible for the customs officer's death.

Investigation was retraced, first to the spaceport. Carnifex and Assassin were encountered. Threats were eliminated by requisitioned Valkyrie: Vulture Gunship support. Investigation lead to the commercial Transport Hub. KSO encountered, Investigation linked to operational cover up.

AIS engaged KSO unit. AIS agents wounded, KSO KIA with three escapees. KSO cargo truck apprehended.

Operation Haystack: AIS Mission Log_Update

Contents of KSO cargo truck was two tons of officer grade military rations. Correspondence codes indicate the cargo is a small fraction of a larger shipment.

AIS2 lone survivor Zerath, consolidated to AIS1. Note Agent Carly and Agent K2'16 are MIA.

Attempts to track the KSO hindered by Spore Mine swarm. Xeno: Tyranid Ravenger encountered, evasive maneuvers resulted in the destruction of a Atlas Metropolis bridge and the elimination of the threat.

KSO escapees lost, moved to Local Hospital for medical supplies. KSO team encountered in Local Metropolis Hospital. KSO team assassinated VIP Bayden Qin. KSO team killed, intelligence gained through KSO data slate.

KSO move to evacuate entire Atlas Operation off planet, complete evacuation protocols. all assets are indicated to be consolidating to decommissioned Atlas subterranean rail line.

Boarded KSO commandeered supply train from subway maintenance tunnel platform. Encountered all remaining KSO personnel and Xeno: Tyranid Lictor. AIS agent Castella wounded, requires immediate extraction and medical attention.

Evading engagement with KSO and Xeno: Tyranid Lictor. Attempting to acquire KSO intelligence.

Operation Haystack: AIS Mission Log_Update

Currently still on cargo train, KSO forces have withdrawn to armory car. ASI left to deal with Xeno: Tyrnid Lictor.

AIS encounter disorientated civilian. Retrieved Castella's body and consolidated AIS to a Shipping container. Civilian was identified as a Arbite Latent Psyker. Shipping container filled with sedated abducted latent psykers.

Abite was armed and briefed, AIS then moved to Flat-Bed 4 where several KSO Specter Class Ground Craft were located. While Preping a Specter, AIS was engaged by Xeno: Tyranid Lictor. AIS Agent Severan wounded. Xeno: Tyranid Lictor threat, eliminated.

Train emerged form subterranean tunnels, communications re-established. KRG mission to bring Communications Array back online successful. Orbital Strike protocol enacted. AIS left with 15min to evacuate the blast area.

Requisitioned Valkyrie: Vulture Gunship Support to attack remaining train cars. Destroyed KSO mobile armory and KSO intel.

KSO moved to sabotage the train, Servitors destroyed, control hub critically damage. Melta bomb used to detach train cars from Engine Car. Used commandeered Specter to retreat to safe distance. Any remaining KSO and Intelligence destroyed.

Inquisitor Ovichinikov sent in extraction. Interrogator Hector O'Lerry personally extracted AIS team.

Operation Haystack: AIS Mission De-Brief

Mission Objectives
Locate the K.S center of operations (Failed)
- K.S Center of operations could not be found due to Investigation circumstances. The entire operation was evacuated and/or strategically liquidated. AIS team did locate the Evacuation Operation and eliminated it in its entirety.

Eliminate Military Resistance and Additional Hostiles (Complete)
- AIS showed admirable resourcefulness. The KSO was discovered and eliminated, in addition the AIS encounted a number of Xeno Majorious: Tyranid Hostiles, which were promptly eliminated. Note KRG need to be compensated for expenditure of military resources requisitioned by AIS.

Obtain enemy Intelligence (Fail)
- AIS were unable to acquire holistic Intel to further the investigations of the Ordo Hereticus. However, their efforts were not fruitless. Intel gathered, however small, allows for follow up investigations on Orbon.

Extract Enemy VIPs for Interrogation (Fail)
- AIS team were unable to extract any enemy VIPs for interrogation due to a multitude of factors. The most notable is, the KSO subordinates have clearly been issued orders to kill Commanding officers in the event of their eliminate capture.

Missions Comments
We believed this mission would fail when it was drawn up. The initiate team chosen, was to gain the maximum potential for success for the minimal expenditure of personnel resources. This team has show remarkable resilience and resourcefulness. Request to keep them as primary investigation team. Further request to remedy AIA Castella's medical condition permanently. Further request to induct Arbite Latent psyker for training and Asset use.
