Mission 7: S.O.S

Lord Taarn, Chapter Master of the War Dogs, and newly inducted Overseer of the Sothis System has issued a summons to Brother Tarsonus, and Brother Rainor of the Blood Ravens, Brother Atash of the Shadowed Sons, and Brother Vecetti of the Knights Tempest to present themselves for duties of War.
They are to arrive at Yandell Major Spaceport, and meet with Administatum Agent Eyde.

This is to occur no later than the date of 41.093.10.09

The objective of this is to form an emergency response taskforce, to be deployed as the need arises within the Sothis System. (And beyond in time).
Due to the recent failures of the Deathwatch Lord Taarn see's no need to rely upon them or other like them, and so wishes to formulate his own force. This team will be required to liaise and operate with other Imperial Forces, and be autonomous in the field, and in the selection of missions to engage in.

It is for these reasons that he has summoned the aforementioned brothers, with their respective command's approval.

For the Imperium of Man!
For the Glory of War!

Objective:
Assemble a strike force worthy of your task. Parameters of selection will be outlined by Agent Eyde.
Critical Parameter:
Inter-Imperium Integration
Optional Parameter:
Demonstration of self reliance.

PRIORITY MISSION UPDATE

Upon arrival at Sothis you will be assigned a transport and dispatched to the Moon of Tephu within two days.

An Imperial shuttle bearing priority cargo was brought down via unknown means, splashing down on the planetoid's light-side.
Atmosphere is breathable but light in oxgen. Low gravity, with the surface being covered in thick, chalk-white mineral dust.

Due to the nature of the crash, survival for crew and passenger is at: 9%

Known Xenos presence: None
Unknown Xenos presence: Probable. 60%.

Local Chryos support will be available, but ordered to keep back until the threat is identified. The shuttle is likely being used to bait a trap.
Locate and recover what cargo you can, and investigate the cause of this incident.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Critical Parameter:
Identify the perpetrators of this attack
Optional Parameter:
Secure cargo.
Flag items or debris too large for transport with transponders.

Attention Brother Atash:

Glad to hear you're back in the field Brother. We have a wonderfully humid climate awaiting your return.
Also, the bugs have been delicious of late. Travel well!

Brother Lance:

It's good to be back in the field, Brother. I'm looking forward to sampling more of those bugs again, it's been far too long. Hopefully we'll be able to spend some time catching up once I arrive. I hear you wear many hats now.

Private message to Taric Tarsonus:

Asterozoa? Really? Smartass Well at least it sounds a little more dignified than before, I suppose.

It'll be good to see you again, Brother.

Mission 7 Debrief: S.O.S.

Objective:
Investigate the crash site.
Critical Parameter:
Identify the perpetrators of this attack
Optional Parameter:
Secure cargo.
Flag items or debris too large for transport with transponders.

The crash site was secured and two survivors were rescued. Most of the cargo was also able to be retained.
An Imperial Monitoring station was also recovered, and integrated into the current recon network.

Unfortunately definitive proof of traitors within the Imperial Heirachy has been revealed. The matter is now in the hands of the local Arbites and [redacted] Administratum agents.

The duplicitous Eldar and their vile, darker kin were encountered during the investigation on Tephu. These foul Xenos were engaged and shown exactly WHY the Astartes are not to meddled with. Their twisted tech is of little worth against the Emperor's own! The young War Dog Haket has shown to be a most valuable assault asset.

The negotiation of peaceful parting was a shrewd maneuver from Brother Taronis. Engaging one foe and then letting the lesser evil win the day for our own needs was resourceful, and of good stewardship. No need to risk losses when our enemies can kill each other for us!

The Celestine Veteran rescued from the crash site has been a good source of intel regarding the political situation here. It would appear that there is a divide within the Ordo's. The [redacted] have gained few friends this last year, and this further proves they may not be as above reproach as they would have us believe.

Lord Taarn's initiative continues to gain more voices it would appear.

Regular Navy patrols and a Destroyer's presence are being arranged to keep a gunners-eye trained on the webway portal. The bonds between Sothis High Command and the Astartes continue to strengthen.

HANDLERS NOTES:
How in the bloody-celestial-bodies am I meant to provide logistical support without proper comms? I have an effective range of the sky. Tell me, how will this be of help when this initiative's scope is system wide?

That aside, the squad has operated as usual. Brutal efficiency combined with a Raven's cunning. The inclusion of the young pup Haket was good choice. I don't think I have ever seen a take-down as effective, or bloody, as that! He has a good future if he can keep his skull intact.

On that note, what is the obsession this squad has with removing their helmets? The statistical regularity of Astartes head-wounds suggests this to be a bad thing. Has anyone else noticed the ratio of sergeants to cranial augmetics? No? Just me then?

Despite this I'm glad to see Brother Atash still falls over for almost any reason. Also glad to see Brother Haket joining in with the proud tradition. Bonding is important yes?

Doors are also an apparent hazzard. As are ramps. I refer back to my previous comments regarding HELMETS.

Hmf. Eldar. Wonderful. Lets just add that to the mix shall we? Why not.

An Emperor's own Sister of Holy War? A Celestine Veteran of the Jade Rose no-less... we will make the repair and replenishment of The Lady's war-gear a priority. Clear a bunk and some get a bloody chapel set aside. Assign Brother Vecceti to her.
We will not be found lacking in her eyes, by oath of honor and bonded blade. As it has been since our founding.

Addendum 1: Then get me a direct link to a Navy channel. No I don't care to be polite. Kathay can deal with it.
Addendum 2: Eldar are Eldar. Their depth of perversion bothers me not. Allies today, enemies tomorrow.
Addendum 3: Someone keep an eye on the pup. I have a bad feeling about his temperament. A devious mind could turn that against us.
Addendum 4: Brother Rainor had best join us soon. Watching the Lexicanum play spanner-jack dampens my humors.

Request to Packleader Lance with closed copy to Master of the Standard Scarab
Subject: Reading Material

Packleader,

Further to Master Scarab's directions, I understand the requirement for more comprehensive recording measures to reflect our combat experiences. On this point, and to further the records of the new Chapter, my knowledge of such topics is lacking. I request access to more data records to deepen my understanding of current requirements.

In addition, I believe a scribe servitor may be required. The current stock of quills seem to be faulty and brittle.
