Ghenrael is watched over by a group of Druids known to the Eladrin as Sentinels. Groups of Sentinels known as Circles are headed by an Arch Druid called a Shaper. Circles are usually three to four members strong, and are responsible for watching over there region. A Circle’s region often spans the entirety of a kingdom, and in some cases beyond. A member of the Circle with dominion over the lands known as the Kingdom of Ghenrael first encountered a Curse Marked Orc, leading a band of Ogriods in the foothills about Reedhook lake. His name is Shando’bal Furion.

Prelude Session 1
Shando believed this mark heralded a great evil, and the corruption it has caused within the Orc only further compounded his concerns. Shando sent word to the Auguston Monastery, and to Bahra’dol Thane, requesting the aid of old allies Odric Gothard, and Thorgim Ceadiocghan.

With Odric missing for many years, the summons was instead delivered his Daughter, Adrysse Gothard. With no real knowledge or who her parents where and why they abandoned her to the church, Adrysse decided to answer the summons herself. She appealed to Chaplain Renae De’Cartae of Auguston who agreed to allow her to take her pilgrimage. With the consent of her Chaplin Mother, and an eagerness to uncover her past, Adrysse set off with a caravan to Furl of Van’tese to meet Shando, and Thorgrim in the Merry Flock Inn.

It had been centuries since the War of the Spine, and the fall of Stolitsa Rornharg and its under-lands. Unknown to Shando, Thorgrim had sustained a wound during a confrontation against the Paragon of Harg at the foot of the Obsidian Gate. In the centuries past, the Crystal Forge Clan, had joined the Orn, a coalition of traditionalist fanatic dwarves, seeking to reclaim and reforge their home in the underlands. A Dwarven thane called Bahra’dol, of the under-kingdom Stolitsa Drom’dol, had become home for many Crystal Forge clansmen. Here, while the message reached its intended, it was met by the sound of incoherent rambling and juvenile guffaws. The wound Thorgrim had sustained from the War of the Spine had stolen all sense of self and awareness. The evils described in the letter however, already loomed over the unsuspecting clan. Days later the clan was attacked in by necrotic horrors. In the commotion Throgrim took another blow. This allowed him to regain some sense of self and set him on the long road to recovery. His people were forced to the surface once more where the Bastard Son of House Brightlen intervened. What remained of the Crystal Forge Clan, was escorted to Rocheford. After spending days reacquainting himself with the world and himself, Throgrim rediscovered the letter. He remembered the name, Shando, and the weight it carried. So the venerable warrior left for the Merry Flock Inn of Furl, responding to the Sentinel’s Summons.

Thorgrim arrived first at the Merry Flock Inn and asked for Shando. None knew his name so the Dwarf stayed on at the Inn awaiting his arrival. Two days past and the young priestess Adrysse arrived in Furl, found her way to the Merry Flock. Within she looked for the ones named Shando and Thorgrim, her search eventually leading her to a white haired dwarf, with a bandaged wound on his forehead. The two stayed on for another night until finally a Raven Runner came to the inn with a message for Thorgrim and Odric.

The message left by the runner explained Shando had been waylaid and urged the Excorsist and the Warrior to obtain permission to act in the relevant Lord's lands, and to then join him in the eastern foothills of the Cesdradin Heights. Adrysse and Thorgrim travelled to Van'tese, where they secured a meeting with Sir Gyllliam Audain, who negotiated allowed them to obtain a Mercenary Contract to kill Ogroids during the frosts, on behalf of Van'tese.

The journey was arduous for the old dwarf and the inexperienced priestess. Days of struggle were soon rewarded when the elusive Sentinel discovered his summoned allies. Shando was surprised to find a young girl where he expected a man, and a shadow of his old ally, in place of a mighty commander. Lacking time and another options, Shando explained his concerns regarding Witch Marked Ogriod and called them to aid him in further investigation. This ultimately led to the trio encountering several Ogriod patrols and eventually battling their leaders: A corrupted Goblin Shaman, and a Witch Marked Champion. Within the tainted Dens of the Ogroids, Adrysse discovered the Ardent Crest. A revered relic of the Church and weapon entrusted to the keeping of a Chaplain: in this case, Chaplain Garen Taillefer of Le’Ghentel.
