Mission 2 Debrief:

Objective: Locate and identify two more coordinates located to the south and south east of the Chryos beachhead.
Retrieve and or secure these site, flagging them for 'discovery' by the Imperial Guard.
Critical Parameter: See but remain unseen; All other forces must remain ignorant to your identity for now.
Optional Parameter: Targets of Opportunity; Orkoid leaders, Rebel leaders, enemy intel or communications.

The recon team relocated to the closest southern marker, coordinates [redacted], with use of the previously acquired water craft.
They identified and recovered a second Gorgon class transport, found approximated 35 meters below sea level embedded in a coral shelf.
The Gorgon class transport was briefly activated to identify and then destroy an unmanned tactical drone flying a low altitude. It has been confirmed as an Orkoid construct, the like of which has not been seen on Sothis in all the years past.

The recon team then evading the investigating Chryos forces and made their way to the south eastern marker, coordinates [redacted], through the jungles of Sothis over period of 4 days. Several aggressive parasites have been identified and uploaded to the Sothis Hostile Fauna Codex. Available to all operatives from [redacted] or [redacted].

Upon locating the archeo-site coordinates, the team identified multiple signatures with the ruined remains of what was once a massive xeno-fortress. They then managed to defend the location from a sizable Orkoid salvage team. They were greatly assisted and by the discovery and activation of a surviving Contemptor class Dreadnought identified as a Champion of Terra; Officer of the Legion, World Eater Brother [redacted].
A truly momentous occasion. The Emperor protects! The Emperor Provides!

The recon team was then extracted back to command. The site was immediately secured by Imperial Navy personnel, as all Chryos forces were otherwise engaged.

Relics recoverd:
3x troop Drop pods (operational)
1x Deathwind Drop pod (operational)
1x Dreadnought Assault Drop Pod (operational)

13x mk3 powered armor suits (Repairable)
41x mk3 Bolters, specialized weapons and misc wargear. (Repairable)
1x Relic Storm Bolter (operational)
1x Fallen Champion of Terra; Brother [redacted]
Most importantly, in almost all of the bodies retrieved, their [redacted] had survived and may be [redacted][redacted][redacted].

HANDLER NOTES

The retrieval of the badly damaged Gorgon class transport from that depth is remarkable. The unconventional manner in which it was done is worthy of commendation. The paired leadership and technical invention of scouts Atash and Tarsonis is growing proof that this combined initiative is a worthwhile venture.

The orkoid drone was later discovered to be constructed from local and offworld parts, held together by orkish ingenuity. There is no doubt now that the feral ork population has gotten themselves a sponsor. This is concerning.

Scout Lance has again shown his considerable worth in deep field conditions, distinguishing himself as an authority in these matters. There is yet hope for his advancement to Battle Brother.

By the Emperor! A living relic, Lord [redacted], discovered after all this time! A true King of War has been returned to us!
The wisdom shown by scout Atash in seeking mechanicum aid during the perilous reactivation attempt has been noted and commended to his Chapter Master. Such humility in the face of glory shall not be forgotten.
Scout Tarsonis and Lance also displayed good tactical acumen in facing such a numerous foe. Deception and cunning held sway until the fury of the World Eaters was brought against them. How could the Orkoids survive against such a glorious avatar of vengeance? They could not!

ADDENDUM 1: Scout Atash's oddities have been identified as simple Chapter idiosyncrasies. To be monitored.

A copy of this report is forwarded from Chapter Master Amari to battle-brothers Runihura and Nassor with the following notes:

Runi, Nassor - see what you can find out from our Aurora battle-brothers on board about the current protocols and such regarding proper, formal Mechanicum training. We may want to steer Atash in that general direction in the near future - he's proven he has at least something of an aptitude for it. I'll send you any information we receive regarding the local Forgeworld, Lythan. From what I have heard of it so far, it sounds promising.

I've also attached the schematics for these Gorgons they've been digging up. Have fun with those, and feel free to share them and discuss them with our Aurora brethren. They should find them interesting.

A copy of this report has been forwarded from Scout Master Cyrus to Chaplain Kathay with the following brief comments added:

Samples of the parasites that were able to survive the Marine Immune system should be passed over to the Apothacarion for further study.

A Mech specialist! Orks are suspected of having a genetic memory of their own technology', but these take generations to develop unaided. I would recommend to the Knights tempest calling in the deathwatch, Ordo Xenos, or other Xeno specialists to find the Benefactor if you see a similar pattern in future campaigns.

Our Librarians are scouring the chapter archives for data on the fall of the World Eaters. It seems they were still completely loyal at the date of this campaign, and based on the Assault squad's remains, the Butchers Nails standardization had not yet even reached this battle-group. Very Interesting, Chapter command will be in touch.

Skullworm:
It would appear that this particular species of parasite secretes an enzyme that masks it's presence from the host body's defenses. It would also appear that at the time of removal it was already dying; the superior Astartes immune system was adjusting to the threat, albeit much slower than usual.

Scourge-Maggot:
Similarly, this repulsive parasite was also dying. It too has the enzyme mask, but had been isolated by the immune system. It is unsure if if would have expired before its swarm payload matured however. Fortunately this creature has a distinct pheremone marker, making it quite easy to scan for.

The Sothis Hostile Fauna Codex has been further updated with this data
